Oh Holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us we pray. Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us, today.

LUKE 1:38 – Then Mary said, ‘Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.’

Let it be. There is something poetic about Mary’s reply—and not just the astounding willingness she showed to allow her body to become the vessel of God’s ultimate gift of grace. Life would not get simpler for her, but infinitely more complex and confusing. Yet, she was willing to just let it be—to wait with patience and trust in God during the most chaotic months of her young life. Chaos has a way of bleeding from the activity of our lives into every aspect of our being. It steals our focus and captures our imagination. What if we were able to wait in the chaos like Mary? Could you wait with a renewed sense of hope, peace, joy and love? This final week of Advent is a great time to invite Jesus into the chaos of your life and wait with him while his promises become reality in and around us.

As we light the fourth candle on the Advent wreath, we wait in the chaos, committing ourselves to a greater devotion and love of God and neighbor.
