God of Hope, You have made yourself known to us through the generations. Make yourself known to me (us) in a new and fresh way this Christmas.

JOHN 1:14 – And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.

If company is coming over, you clean up the house. We learn this from a young age. We would never want someone to see the chaos of our lives! So often, when we think about inviting God into our lives, we do the same thing. We feel the need to straighten up, clean out and get right. But, that is not the story of Christmas. God becomes human and enters directly into our chaotic world. This is the base of our Hope—that Jesus comes to redeem our hectic, crazy, not-well-put-together lives just as they are. Why not invite him into your heart today?

As we light the first candle on the Advent wreath, we long to see the beauty of your Kingdom break forth in our every day life.
